Rick’s Bio In 1997 Rick Gillis became employee number one of the first Houston-based local employment website. As a direct result of Rick’s efforts, this site quickly became the employment site of choice for some of Houston’s most recognized corporations –companies such as Compaq Computer (now HP), Continental Airlines, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Treatment Center, Shell Oil Company, Rice University and even major league baseball’s Houston Astros. In 1998, Rick was asked to speak to a job seeker’s networking group on how to use the internet in the job search. During that first presentation, Rick began actively studying employment. Watching, listening and learning from job seekers as well as the human resource and staffing company professionals he was meeting on a daily basis, Rick developed the original version of what soon became known as “Guerilla Job Search Tactics” – a presentation on the fundamentals of the contemporary job search. Guerilla Job Search Tactics later became the book: REALLY Useful Job Search Tactics. The central theme of Rick’s compelling message? “Show me, as an employer, how you are going to make me money or save me money.” This basic premise applies to all aspects of the job search from the preparation of your Pre- Resume™ and “30-second elevator pitch” to the interviews that follow. Even more importantly, it has been proven to apply to all levels of job seeking – from entry level to the boardroom. It is this simple statement, coupled with his energetic and entertaining style, that has launched Rick’s professional speaking career and led to his radio show “ Rick Gillis Employment Radio."
